Throughout his career as a data architect, Aaron has developed a keen eye for transforming data into relatable, effective information solutions for businesses. Across an 11-year career with the Accident Fund Insurance Company, he modeled data, created technical designs for a broad range of systems and encouraged data stewardship, and lead the establishment of their enterprise data warehousing, business intelligence and enterprise architecture programs. Since that time, Aaron has designed and aided in the implementation of enterprise data warehouses for a variety of companies, including Auto Owners Insurance, Med1, Entertainment Publications, Highmark Insurance Group, Michigan Association of Public School Academies and Freeosk. Now, as principal and founder of Superior Data Strategies, he has expanded his role expertly guiding clients toward reliable and valuable business solutions. He leads a team of highly skilled database professionals who are uniquely capable of planning and executing agile data projects. Aaron is skilled in dozens of software, databases and standards and methodological programs, bringing a wealth of experience to any team or project. He is a faculty member at TDWI, educating the next generation of technology leaders and developers. Aaron holds a Bachelor of Arts in Systems Analysis and Application Development from Davenport University and is a Certified Business Professional at the mastery level.

Julie Lowry

Julie is an exceptionally talented and productive technical lead. Over the course of a 20 plus year career in data managements Julie has held roles in all stages of the Data Warehouse life cycle ranging from BI and data architect, data modeler, BI developer and data analyst. Julie’s career began in the actuarial departments of insurance companies before her focus turned to information technology, where she has mastered a wide range of systems, business processes and databases. Julie’s attention to detail, quickness to learn and her tenacity allow her to solve the toughest challenges found in any project. Julie is a highly-motivated problem solver who brings her unique breadth and depth of skills and experiences to every team she works with.

Sean Caswell

Sean Caswell
Sean designs and builds customized data integration solutions for SDS clients. A veteran of the US Navy Submarine Force, Sean began his career in data management at Jackson National Life Insurance, where he worked on several analytics projects for the operations department. As SDS lead integration developer, Sean has been the technical lead on numerous complex data warehouse and operational data integration projects. Sean’s passion for engineering and problem solving led him to peruse and attain a bachelor’s degree from Michigan State University’s College of Engineering. He continues to hone those design and problem-solving abilities through his focus on how data moves through systems.

Kevan Shea

Kevan Shea
Kevan joins the SDS team with 16 years of professional programming experience, but his passion for programming extends across three decades. Kevan began his work with SDS as an in-house tool developer, then quickly took on the role of server and database administrator. He is currently head of system administration and application development both in-house and for clients. His programing experiences have made him highly proficient in Python, Perl, Java, C/C++ and he possesses the ability to quickly digest new languages and frameworks. Kevan has been a key contributor to database design and administration for enterprise operational datastores and data warehouses. Kevan combines his strong database design knowledge with an extensive background in application architecture to provide clients with extremely high value data solutions.

Brian Moore

Brian Moore
Prior to working at SDS, Brian worked for AT&T where he helped implement new web service tools and provided data analysis at a district, regional and national level. Brian has cultivated his experience as a database developer by engaging in complex system conversions. He has been a key team member and team lead for dozens of projects creating data flow documentation between system applications and data warehouses. Brian’s exceptional capacity for understanding new concepts has allowed him to participate in data modeling for several Oracle, SQL Server and MySQL data warehouses. Brian delivers, leads and serves as a mentor to others based on his familiarities in delivering high-value customer service experiences. Brian attended Lansing Community College, where he earned his associate degree in Applied Arts, Music Management.

Justin Stephens

Justin Stephens
Justin joins Superior Data Strategies with more than 19 years of management and customer service experience. As operations manager for a Fortune 500 company, Justin assisted with a large software and policy conversion effort bringing the business into alignment with modern technologies. Justin’s strong leadership background has allowed him to serve as Business Account Manager and project manager for SDS’s premier accounts. He has demonstrated his ability to successfully deliver projects and ensure overall client satisfaction. In addition, he has taken on several data analysis assignments, developing moderate SQL proficiency as well as experience reverse engineering existing data flows.

Vanessa Cabrera

Vanessa Cabrera
Vanessa Cabrera brings more than 10 years of business administration and operations management experience to SDS. She combines her unique communication style and strong business background while overseeing client relationships. Vanessa is responsible for updating and maintaining SDS’s policies and procedures as well as internal accounts payable and receivable. Vanessa has expanded her client relationship experience by working as project manager for a large data warehouse initiative. During this time, she assisted the lead data architect in daily activities but also planned project stories and tasks for the development team. Vanessa was also responsible for ensuring timely delivery of key milestones throughout the duration of the project. Vanessa continues to develop as a project manager and data analyst through her involvement with clients and our team at all stages of the data life cycle. Her diverse project experience allows her to be a data savvy project lead making her an asset to our team.
